100 million digicams shipped in 2006, trends is up
According to Lyra Research, global shipments shipments of digital cameras increased over 20% in 2006 to almost 100 million units despite the fact that over half of all households in Japan, the US, and many Western European nations now have digital cameras, and also in spite of all those multimegapixel camera phones (heck, we're not surprised -- they still take hideous pictures). Lyra predicts worldwide digital camera shipments of over 130 million in 2010, so the best is yet to come. -- Posted Wednesday, January 10, 2007 by chb
